Introduction

Menthyl acetate is an organic ester from menthol and acetic acid, a nature – identical fragrance with mint coolness and ester properties.
Its molecular structure has menthyl and acetoxy groups, formula , MW
This structure gives it specific chemical and physical traits, and the ester bond brings typical reactivity.
Normally a colorless, clear liquid, with fresh mint and soft fruit – floral aroma.
Insoluble in water, miscible with ethanol, ether, chloroform, bp ~227℃, density ~0.92.

It can also do alcoholysis, ammonolysis and form complexes with metal salts.
