Extraction Technology

The traditional method of extracting essential oils from citrus is known as pressing or cold pressing. The essential oil is extracted by soaking the orange peel in warm water and then pressing the peel. Then, a sponge is use to absorb the extracted liquid. After that, a sponge is squeeze over the container to collect all the extracts, allowing the essential oil to separate from the juice to create sweet orange oil.

There are three kinds of cold grinding oil, cold pressed oil and distilled oil in water. The first two are deep orange or brown-red liquids, with relative density 0.8443-0.8490, refractive index 1.4723-1.4746, specific rotation +95°66′ -+ 98°13′, acid value 0.35-0.91, and aroma close to natural fruit. Distilled oil is a light yellow liquid. The relative density is 0.8400-0.8461, the refractive index is 1.4715-1.4732, the specific rotation is +95°12′-+96°56′, and the aroma is poor.
