Intro of Terpineol

Terpinol, also known as sycamore oil and turpentine terpene alcohol, naturally exists in pine oil, nerolava oil and other essential oils. Terpinol is one of the earliest synthetic fragrances to achieve industrial production, mainly use as soap flavor. Has a history of more than 100 years. It is a bulk spice product, and the annual output in the world is thousands of tons. It is widely use in various daily chemical flavor formulations. Especially in soap and synthetic detergent with flavor formulations more widely use, the amount can reach 30%.

Physical and Chemical properties

Baisfu Terpinol has three isomers: α, β and γ. According to its melting point should be a solid. But the synthetic products sold on the market, a mixture of these three isomers is liquid.
Alpha-terpinol is available in three forms: dextrorotatory, left-handed and racemic. D-α-terpinol exists naturally in cardamom oil, sweet orange oil, jasmine oil and nutmeg oil. L-alpha-terpinol occurs naturally in pine needle oil, camphor oil. And rosewood oil. β-terpinol has both cis and trans isomers (rare in essential oils). Gamma-terpinol exists as a free state or ester in the oil of cypress wood.
