Detailed Description

Diosgenin is a steroidal sapogenin and an important raw material for the synthesis of steroid hormone drugs and steroidal contraceptives. It is mainly found in plants of the Dioscoreaceae family, such as Dioscorea zingiberensis and Dioscorea zingiberensis. Diosgenin is a product obtained by hydrolysis of diosgenin extracted from these plants. It is a white or slightly yellowish white crystalline powder, odorless, tasteless, with a high melting point, insoluble in water, and soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone.

Functions

Mainly used as flavor additive to pigments and foods
