Longan Flavor

Longan Flavor is a natural fragrance extracted from the Dimocarpus longan fruit. It is widely used in the fields of food, beverages, cosmetics and medicine. It can be produced through natural extraction or chemical synthesis, and has a rich sweet and fruity aroma characteristic.

1. Physical form and properties
Liquid essence: Colorless or light yellow transparent liquid, density approximately 0.90 – 1.00 g/mL, soluble in alcohol and lipid solvents, insoluble in water. Powder essence: Easily soluble in water, suitable for baking, solid beverages, etc.
2. Aroma characteristics: Rich and sweet fruit aroma, with a fresh and sweet, honey-like fragrance and a slight floral scent.
3. Main components
Lotus seed essence is usually prepared by blending various spices. Common components include: esters (such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, phenyl acetate) – providing fruit and sweet scents. Alcohols (such as thymol, phenylethanol, linalool) – enhancing floral scents and freshness. Terpenoids (such as γ-decalactone) – giving a creamy and ripe fruit aroma. Natural extracts (such as lotus essence tincture, red date extract) – enhancing realism and depth.
4. Stability and storage
Should be protected from light and sealed for storage (in a cool place below 25℃), avoiding high temperature volatilization or oxidation.
5. Shelf life is usually 2 years (liquid) or 1 year (powder).

Application fields
1. Food Industry (Main Applications)
Baked foods (pastries, fillings): 0.1% – 0.5% added, enhancing sweet aroma.
Beverages (tea drinks, juices): 0.01% – 0.1%, enhancing fruit aroma.
Candies (soft candies, chocolate): 0.3% – 0.5%, simulating the real flavor of lotus seeds.
Specialized flavoring for betel nuts: adding jujube extract and turmeric ketones, improving the bitter taste of betel nuts.
2. Cosmetics and Perfume Industry
Perfume: As an ingredient of fruity fragrance, providing warm and sweet notes.
Shampoo and body wash products: Minor addition (0.02% – 0.1%).
3. Medicine and Health Supplements: Used for aiding digestion or functional foods, taking advantage of the potential health value of natural extracts.
