Aesculetin (also known as esculetin, 6,7-dihydroxycoumarin and cichorigenin) is a derivative of coumarin.It It is a natural lactone that derives from the intramolecular cyclization of a cinnamic acid derivative. It is present in many toxic and medicinal plants, in form of glycosides and caffeic acid conjugates.Esculetin-containing preparations use systemically can have an anticoagulant effect and might interact with anticoagulent drugs such as warfarin.This compound is use in some sunscreens, but there is evidence that it acts as a photosensitizer for DNA damage.
6, 7 – Dihydroxycoumarin/Esculetin 305-01-1 is an intermediate of anti – asthma medicine. 6, 7 – Dihydroxycoumarin methylated with dimethyl sulfate, namely, asthma tannin (dimethoxycoumarin). This is an antiasthmatic medicine, asthma obvious effect, and expectorant, antitussive effect. Aescin B itself is an antibacterial agent that inhibits dysentery bacilli and can use for the treatment of acute bacillary dysentery, as well as for antiasthmatic and expectorant effects and for the treatment of chronic bronchitis.
