Apply

O-vanillin Chinese name 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde, also known as o-vanillin, light yellow needle-like crystal, with vanillin aroma and rich milk flavor, is the isomer of vanillin, commonly used as pharmaceutical intermediates, is an important starting raw material for the synthesis of a variety of raw materials and spices, especially in the synthesis of Schiff base than vanillin has a wider application.

Antibacterial action of o-Vanillin

This product and its nickel complex have good antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Among them, the inhibitory effect of the two on Candida albicans was far more than that on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activity of nickel complex was better than that of o-vanillin. When  Baisfu o-vanillin was converted into Schiff base, the antibacterial activity was significantly improved, and when it was coordinated with transition metal nickel, the antibacterial activity was more significant.

Preparation of o-Vanillin

That exists in flue-cured tobacco leaves, burley tobacco leaves and mainstream smoke. It is found in herb bean, benzoin gum, Peruvian balsam, Tolu balsam, etc. It can be extracted and prepared. This can also be prepared from isoeugenol by oxidation, and can also be prepared from safrole, lignin, and guaiacol, respectively. The finished product should be sealed and stored in a dry and cool place.

Use
